About · Est. 2022

A house with a quiet history, restored for slow stays.

iGadi means "the garden" in Xhosa, one of South Africa's twelve official languages. iGadi House is a restored Victorian townhouse on Faure Street in the Gardens, Cape Town's most beloved neighbourhood. Ten rooms, a wellbeing sanctuary, and an indigenous garden beneath Table Mountain.

Philosophy

Heritage, gently held.

Victorian architecture

High ceilings, sash windows, broekie lace and oregon floors, preserved by hand, layered with calm contemporary interiors in linen, oak, brass and stone.

A garden philosophy

Grounded in the original layout, every plant was thoughtfully selected and hand-planted under Cécile's vision to honor the Cape's heritage, combining native fynbos and indigenous flora with heritage citrus trees. Chemical-free and naturally watered, this vibrant outdoor haven remains the heart of the house and the true source of its name.

Solar & sustainability

Solar energy keeps our lights on, while energy-efficient LEDs keep our footprint low. We are deeply committed to a cleaner planet, actively recycling, reusing, and prioritizing biodegradable or recycled materials over single-use plastics. Wherever possible, we source locally and organically to keep our supply chain short and fresh. Plus, all remaining waste is routed to one of South Africa's top high-efficiency recycling facilities.

A founder's note

Cécile Bouquillion · Founder & Owner

Inspired by the beauty of Cape Town, Cécile bought the property in 2021 with the vision of restoring it into a luxury boutique hotel. Her dream was realised in December 2022 when iGadi House opened to local and international guests.

The Threatened Swan
